Frequently Asked Questions
What size heater do I need for my sauna?
Calculate the interior volume of your sauna room in cubic metres (length × width × height). As a general guide, allow approximately 1kW per 1.5–2 cubic metres. For outdoor saunas or rooms with large windows or glass doors, add 20% to account for heat loss. Use the Heater Size Guide in the specifications to match the right heater to your space.
Why choose a cylinder heater over a rectangular heater?
Cylinder heaters offer several advantages. The vertical design holds significantly more stones (50–80kg vs 18–22kg), creating better thermal mass for softer, more consistent heat. The larger stone mass also produces superior löyly (steam) when water is poured over it. The striking tower design creates a visual centrepiece in your sauna, and the circular profile allows efficient air circulation.
How much space does the cylinder heater need?
The heater has a 380mm diameter footprint and stands 800mm tall. Allow adequate space around the heater for air circulation and safety. Maintain a minimum 400mm clearance between the top of the heater and the ceiling. Floor mounting is recommended.
How does the Wi-Fi control work?
The system includes a compact wireless adapter that plugs into the controller. Once connected to your home Wi-Fi network, you download the free app to your smartphone. The app lets you turn the sauna on/off, set the temperature, adjust the timer, and monitor current conditions from anywhere with internet access.
Is the Wi-Fi system complex to set up?
Not at all. The adapter plugs directly into the controller and connects to your Wi-Fi network like any smart home device. The app guides you through pairing in a few minutes. No technical expertise or professional setup required.
Can I still use the wall controller if the Wi-Fi is down?
Yes. The external wall controller works independently. Wi-Fi adds remote convenience, but the physical controller provides full functionality at all times, even without an internet connection.
Can I install this heater myself?
The heater requires professional electrical installation by a licensed electrician. While positioning the heater and setting up Wi-Fi is straightforward, connecting to your electrical supply must be done by a qualified professional to ensure safety and compliance with Thai electrical regulations.
How long does the heater take to warm up the sauna?
Expect 30–45 minutes to reach typical sauna temperatures of 80–90°C, depending on room size, insulation quality, and ambient temperature. The larger stone mass may take slightly longer to reach uniform temperature, but it retains heat better during sessions.
Are the sauna stones included?
No. Stones must be purchased separately. This heater requires 50–80kg of sauna stones (4 boxes). See our Sauna Stones product page.
What electrical supply do I need?
The heater operates on standard Thai 220–240V single-phase power. You will need a dedicated circuit with appropriate amperage (typically 30–40A, depending on heater size) and a correctly rated MCB. Your electrician will assess your electrical panel's capacity.
Can I use this heater for an outdoor sauna?
Yes, but the heater itself must be installed inside the sauna room, protected from direct weather exposure. For outdoor saunas, choose a heater size 20% larger than the room volume calculation suggests to compensate for heat loss.
Is this heater suitable for commercial use?
Yes. The cylinder heater's robust construction and large stone capacity make it well-suited for commercial applications, including wellness centres, spas, gyms, and hotels. The impressive design also enhances the aesthetic appeal of premium facilities.
What is the warranty?
Heaters include a 1-year manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. Warranty does not cover damage from improper installation, misuse, or normal wear of heating elements.

About this heater

Overview

That stone mass is the point of it. More stone means more stored heat,
so the room holds temperature more steadily through a session, and the
löyly is heavier when you ladle water over the top. The trade is at the
start: 30 to 45 minutes to come up to temperature, rather than warming
fast and then swinging.

The cylindrical body lets air move freely around the elements and the
stones, and the open steel cage makes the whole stack visible — it
reads as a centrepiece rather than a box on the wall.

Control is a wall-mounted panel with a digital LCD display, fitted
outside the sauna door, with Wi-Fi built in. The free iOS and Android
app turns the sauna on, sets the temperature and the timer, and shows
you what the room is doing from anywhere. The panel works on its own;
Wi-Fi adds the phone, and the panel keeps full control if the network
drops.

Stainless steel, silver finish. Eight outputs from 3 to 18kW. All
RonYen sauna heaters are TÜV Safety Certified.

Heater Size Guide

Work out the interior volume of the sauna room — length × width ×
height. Then add 10 to 15 per cent for the Thai climate, and another
10 per cent if the sauna is outdoors or has a lot of glass.

3kW — 2 to 4 m³. For example 1.2m × 1.2m × 2.1m
4.5kW — 3 to 6 m³. For example 1.5m × 1.5m × 2.1m
6kW — 5 to 8 m³. For example 1.8m × 1.8m × 2.1m
7.5kW — 7 to 9 m³. For example 2.0m × 2.0m × 2.1m
9kW — 8 to 11 m³. For example 2.2m × 2.2m × 2.1m
12kW — 11 to 15 m³. For example 2.5m × 2.5m × 2.1m
15kW — 13 to 18 m³. For example 2.8m × 2.8m × 2.1m
18kW — 15 to 20 m³. For example 3.0m × 3.0m × 2.1m

Bold the output at the start of each line if you want them to stand
out, or leave them plain.

Undersize the heater and the room never quite gets there. Oversize it,
and it cycles on and off and wastes power. We confirm the output
against your room before you order.

Common questions

Everything you want to know about saunas & heaters

Outdoor and indoor cabins, barrels, cylinders, cube and modern designs, plus sauna-and-shower combos — from a compact one-person unit up to fourteen-person commercial rooms. Every model is made to order and customisable to your space. Browse saunas.

Red Cedar and Finnish Thermo Pine both handle heat and humidity beautifully — cedar for its aroma and natural rot resistance, thermo pine for its stability in wet conditions. Japanese Hinoki is our premium pick. Canadian Hemlock is excellent value for indoor cabins. We’ll match the timber to your budget, look and location.

Outdoor saunas are fully weather-sealed for gardens, rooftops and pool decks. Indoor models are built for bathrooms, gyms and spare rooms. Both use the same indoor-rated electric stone heaters — the difference is the exterior cladding and weatherproofing.

It depends on the internal volume of the cabin. As a guide: 4.5kW for 3–6 m³, 6kW for 5–8 m³, 9kW for 8–11 m³, 12kW for 11–15 m³, 15kW for 13–18 m³ and 18kW for 15–20 m³. Above 20 m³ takes two heaters. Up to and including 9kW runs on single phase; above that is three phase only, which in practice means anything from a six-person cabin upwards. We confirm the exact requirement in your quote so your electrician knows precisely what to install.

Both are food-grade and corrosion-resistant. 316 adds extra protection for coastal air and chlorinated water, so it’s the safer choice near the sea or beside a pool. 304 is excellent value everywhere else. We’ll recommend the right grade for your site. See ice baths.

Ice works to get started, but it melts fast in Thailand and gets expensive. A chiller holds a precise temperature day after day with no effort — it’s the easiest way to make cold therapy a daily habit rather than an occasional event.

Our chillers run from 0°C to 42°C, so the same unit chills in the hot season and heats in the cool one. Most people plunge between 3°C and 10°C. Beginners usually start around 12–15°C and work down over a few weeks.

Our chillers include filtration and ozone sanitation that keep the water fresh for weeks between changes. We walk you through simple water care at handover — it’s far less work than a pool.

Yes, for saunas in commercial operation. A room running twelve hours a day carries four to six times the load of a home installation, and scheduled servicing is what keeps it performing and keeps the warranty intact. Commercial servicing.

Yes — every sauna arrives in a sealed timber crate with the wall sections already built, and most assemble in a day with two or three people and the supplied instructions. No specialist tools needed. Prefer it done for you? Our team can handle the full install. Installation service.

Delivery to the spot, full assembly, levelling, fitting the heater, and a handover walkthrough so it’s ready to use the same day. It’s the easy option if you’d rather not build it yourself.

A firm, level base — a concrete pad, deck or paved area — plus a power point within reach for the heater. We send a simple prep checklist before delivery so everything’s ready when your sauna arrives.

The final hard-wire connection of the heater should be made by a licensed electrician — that part isn’t included, for safety and compliance. We supply the full heater specification and can recommend trusted local contractors.
