Harvia Spirit Sauna Heater

The Spirit sauna heater is a wall-mounted, stone-loaded electric heater suited to residential sauna rooms from 5 m³ up to 13 m³. Its distinctive oval form is built around a steel body finished in matte black, with a stainless-steel wire cage that holds a generous charge of lava stones. Heat distribution is managed through built-in ventilation channels, which help maintain an even temperature from floor to bench level without hotspots.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a three-phase power supply to run either model?
Only the 9 kW model requires a 400 V three-phase supply. The 6 kW model can run on a 230 V single-phase or 400 V two-phase circuit, which is more commonly available in residential settings. Confirm your available supply with a licensed electrician before ordering.
Is the Wi-Fi controller included in the purchase price?
Yes. Both the 6 kW and 9 kW variants include the standalone digital control panel with built-in Wi-Fi. No separate controller purchase is needed.
What size sauna room does each model suit?
The 6 kW model is rated for sauna rooms of 5–8 m³, and the 9 kW model suits rooms of 8–11 m³. If your room is at the upper end of a range, it is generally worth stepping up to the next output.
Can the heater be controlled remotely when I'm not home?
Yes. Once the Wi-Fi module is connected to your home network, you can set temperature and schedule sessions from the companion smartphone app (iOS and Android) from anywhere with internet access.
How often do the lava stones need to be replaced?
Inspect the stones every 6–12 months. Replace any that are crumbling or have cracked significantly. Under normal residential use, a full stone replacement is typically needed every 1–2 years, though this varies with frequency of use and water quality.

About this heater

Overview

Control is handled by a standalone digital panel that mounts inside the sauna room and connects to the heater via the included Wi-Fi module. From the panel — or the companion smartphone app — you can set temperature, schedule sessions, and monitor heat-up progress remotely. The safety system automatically cuts power if the heater is left unattended beyond the set time, and an integrated door sensor can be added separately for additional convenience.

Both the 6 kW and 9 kW variants are suitable for household use in wet-area (interior) environments. The 9 kW model requires a 400 V three-phase supply; the 6 kW model runs on either a single-phase 230 V or a two-phase 400 V circuit depending on wiring configuration. All components are rated for interior wet-area installation and the unit carries CE and EAC certification.

Delivery

Lead time and delivery method are confirmed at time of order. The heater ships as a packaged unit and is delivered to kerbside or building entrance — placement into the sauna room is the customer's responsibility. The unit weighs approximately 14.5–17 kg (net, without stones); two people are recommended for safe handling. Ensure clear access to the installation site before delivery. Freight damage must be noted on the delivery docket at time of receipt.

Installation

The Spirit heater mounts directly to a sauna wall using the supplied bracket system. Wall-mounting and final electrical connection must be performed by a licensed electrician — this is not a DIY installation.

Electrical supply required:
- 6 kW model: 230 V single-phase or 400 V two-phase dedicated circuit with appropriate breaker.
- 9 kW model: 400 V three-phase dedicated circuit.

The digital control panel is installed separately on the sauna wall (inside the room) and connected to the heater body. The Wi-Fi module is integrated; configuration to a home network is completed via the companion smartphone app after power-on.

Maintain the minimum safety clearances to combustible materials as stated in the installation manual (front clearance: 900 mm to ceiling; side and rear clearances from 40–80 mm depending on surface type). All components, including the control panel and power unit, can be installed inside the sauna room.

Warranty

If an electrical item stops working within the warranty period, we’ll send you a replacement free of charge.

This heater carries the manufacturer's standard warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Warranty duration is subject to the supplier's current terms — confirm at time of purchase. Warranty is void if the unit is installed by an unlicensed electrician or used outside the specified voltage range.

Care & Maintenance

Stones
- Inspect lava stones every 6–12 months; replace any that have crumbled or show significant cracking, as broken stones reduce steam quality and can block airflow.
- Do not wash stones with detergents; rinse with clean water if dusty, then dry completely before returning to the heater.

Heater body
- Wipe the steel body with a dry or lightly damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or steel wool.
- Keep the area around the heater free of lint, wood shavings, and moisture accumulation.

Electrical components
- Have a licensed electrician inspect the wiring connections annually if the heater is in heavy daily use.
- Do not spray water directly onto the control panel or wiring.

General
- Minimum storage temperature is 5 °C — do not expose the unit to freezing conditions.
- The automatic safety timer should be tested periodically to confirm it cuts power correctly.

Everything you want to know about saunas & heaters

Outdoor and indoor cabins, barrels, cylinders and sauna + shower combos — from a compact one-person unit up to ten-person commercial rooms, all customisable to your space. Browse saunas.

Western Red Cedar and Finnish Thermo Pine both handle heat and humidity beautifully; Hinoki is our premium pick. We’ll match the timber to your budget and location.

Outdoor saunas are fully weather-sealed for gardens, rooftops and pool decks; indoor models are built for bathrooms, gyms and spare rooms. Both use indoor-rated electric heaters.

Most home saunas run on a dedicated single- or three-phase circuit sized to the heater. We’ll confirm the exact electrical requirement in your quote.

Both are food-grade and corrosion-resistant; 316 adds extra protection for coastal and chlorinated environments. We recommend the right grade for your site. See ice baths.

Ice works to get started, but a chiller holds a precise temperature day after day with no effort — the easiest way to make cold therapy a daily habit.

Our chillers take the water down to around 3°C and hold it there. Most people plunge between 3–10°C depending on experience.

A built-in filtration and sanitation cycle keeps the water fresh for weeks. We’ll walk you through simple water care at handover.

Most saunas are ready six to eight weeks from order. Once built, freight to your address typically takes a few days, with tracking provided.

Standard nationwide delivery is included. For tricky access — rooftops, tight lanes or upper floors — we’ll quote any crane or extra handling up front.

Everything ships in a purpose-built timber crate to protect the timber and glass in transit — and the crate is easy to dispose of or repurpose.
