Wooden Barrel Ice Bath

A solid pine soaking tub built the same way barrels have been made for centuries — individual staves of pine fitted edge to edge and bound with two steel hoops. The result is a watertight, structurally sound vessel that holds temperature well, looks warm in any setting, and gets better with use as the timber settles and tightens.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the tub leak?
Some seepage at the joins on the first fill is normal — this is how stave-coopered timber works. The pine swells when it contacts water and the joins seal naturally within one or two fills. Fill and empty it once before your first proper use.
Can I use this as a cold plunge tub?
Yes. Pine handles cold water well. You can fill it with cold water and ice, or connect a chiller via the fill inlet for a controlled plunge temperature. The drain makes water changes easy.
Is the finish safe for skin contact?
Yes. The tub is finished with an eco-friendly oil stain that is skin-safe and free from harsh chemicals. It is suitable for direct water and skin contact as supplied.
Does it need re-treating over time?
The oil finish will gradually wear with regular use. Re-apply a food-safe or eco timber oil once or twice a year, or when the wood starts to look dry. Avoid varnish or polyurethane on the interior.
What waste fitting does the drain use?
The drain is compatible with standard 40 mm waste fittings. The waste trap and pipework are not included and are available from any plumbing supplier.

About this ice bath

Overview

The pine is sustainably sourced from Vietnam and finished with an eco-friendly oil stain that is skin-safe and free from harsh chemicals. No internal liner is needed, no synthetic sealants — just timber, steel, and water.

At 70 × 80 × 70 cm, it seats one person comfortably in a deep soak. Fill it hot for a traditional timber bath, or cold for a contrast plunge — pine handles both without issue. The centre-bottom floor drain makes emptying straightforward, and the included slatted wooden step makes getting in and out easy on any surface.

At 23 kg empty, two people can move and reposition it as needed. No installation or electrical connection is required.

Delivery

Delivered to your door across Thailand. Lead times vary by location — contact us for an estimate to your area. For island delivery (e.g. Koh Samui), a ferry surcharge applies and will be confirmed at checkout.

Inspect the unit on arrival before signing off delivery. Any transit damage must be noted on the delivery docket at the time of receipt.

Installation

No installation is required. Place the tub on a level, water-tolerant surface and connect the floor drain to a 40 mm waste outlet, or position the tub over a suitable drainage area. Fill using a hose or buckets. The waste trap and pipework are not included and are available from any plumbing supplier.

First use: Fill and empty the tub once before your first proper soak. This allows the staves to tighten and any initial timber movement to settle. A small amount of seepage at the joins on the first fill is normal and stops within one or two fills as the pine swells.

No electrical or plumbing trade work is required.

Warranty

Warranty terms are not stated in the supplier material. Please verify coverage and duration before listing.

Care & Maintenance

After each use
- Rinse the interior with clean water.
- For a deeper clean, use a mild natural soap and a soft brush. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners — they will strip the oil finish and dry out the timber.

Oil finish maintenance
- Re-apply a food-safe or eco timber oil once or twice a year, or when the wood starts to look dry.
- Do not apply varnish or polyurethane over the existing finish — these are incompatible with the oil-stain base.

Outdoor use
- Re-apply an eco timber oil annually to slow weathering of the exterior.
- If the tub will sit unused for extended periods, empty it and cover it to prevent UV damage and drying out.

General
- Do not use chlorine-based or abrasive cleaners.
- Keep the drain clear of debris to ensure free drainage.

What People Say

Real customers, real saunas, real ice baths — in Thai homes, villas, condos and commercial spaces.

This is the third chiller I have purchased in the last 2 years. This new chiller is perfect and can be operated from the App, allowing me to only have it operating for a few hours before each morning plunge. The service I have received has also been excellent.

Everything you want to know about saunas & heaters

Outdoor and indoor cabins, barrels, cylinders and sauna + shower combos — from a compact one-person unit up to ten-person commercial rooms, all customisable to your space. Browse saunas.

Western Red Cedar and Finnish Thermo Pine both handle heat and humidity beautifully; Hinoki is our premium pick. We’ll match the timber to your budget and location.

Outdoor saunas are fully weather-sealed for gardens, rooftops and pool decks; indoor models are built for bathrooms, gyms and spare rooms. Both use indoor-rated electric heaters.

Most home saunas run on a dedicated single- or three-phase circuit sized to the heater. We’ll confirm the exact electrical requirement in your quote.

Both are food-grade and corrosion-resistant; 316 adds extra protection for coastal and chlorinated environments. We recommend the right grade for your site. See ice baths.

Ice works to get started, but a chiller holds a precise temperature day after day with no effort — the easiest way to make cold therapy a daily habit.

Our chillers take the water down to around 3°C and hold it there. Most people plunge between 3–10°C depending on experience.

A built-in filtration and sanitation cycle keeps the water fresh for weeks. We’ll walk you through simple water care at handover.

We open on 30 July 2026 in Chonburi — and booking is open now, so you can reserve a session for opening week. Book a visit.

Reserve online in a couple of minutes — pick a date and time slot and you’re set. Walk-ins are welcome too, subject to availability.

Saunas, ice baths, a swimming pool, a gym and shaded lounge areas — everything you need to experience the full hot-and-cold circuit. Explore the garden.

The Wellness Garden is in Chonburi, easily reached from Bangkok and Pattaya. Full directions and parking details are on the garden page.

Delivery to the spot, full assembly, levelling, heater fitting and a handover walkthrough so it’s ready to use the same day.

A firm, level base — a concrete pad, deck or paved area — plus a nearby power point. We’ll send a simple prep checklist before delivery.

Final connection should be made by a licensed electrician. We provide the full specification and can recommend trusted local contractors.

Yes — we deliver right across Thailand by freight, and ship internationally on request. Delivery details.

Most saunas are ready six to eight weeks from order. Once built, freight to your address typically takes a few days, with tracking provided.

Standard nationwide delivery is included. For tricky access — rooftops, tight lanes or upper floors — we’ll quote any crane or extra handling up front.

Everything ships in a purpose-built timber crate to protect the timber and glass in transit — and the crate is easy to dispose of or repurpose.
